Over the last two weeks, we have extracted 15 concrete cores on flooring projects. They are a valuable snapshot of what lies beneath the surface! Our coring projects have been for new flooring projects and floor failures. They are used for analysis of flooring failures and can be used for testing properties such as adhesives, contaminants, bond strength of flooring materials, concrete strength, permeability, and chemical analysis. We also mail the cores to the laboratory of your choice and provide documentation for proof of chain of custody. For new projects, the cores are a preemptive strike prior to installation to help ensure a floor failure doesn’t happen. For example, the laboratory can identify Alkali-flsilica reaction (ASR), which is the premature deterioration of concrete. Some materials used for installation can speed up that process which could lead to a concrete and flooring failure.
